 Researcher. Generalities.

Skolozhabskiy Andriy, Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine, Ph.D., Candidate of Medical Sciences (thesis in the area of cellular biotechnologies regarding using of Mammalia bone marrow stem cells in oncology), is a researcher of problems laboratory concerning human andrology and reproduction, Department of Urology and Andrology, Kharkiv National Medical University, Ukraine. Since 1999, I had independently mastered such programming languages as Borland Delphi, Pascal, C++, and HTML+CSS (web-design), a standard package of graphic programs and the fundamentals of work with Microsoft software products.
I completed Kharkiv National Medical University, Pediatrics specialization. Further I worked in various medical and scientific institutions of Ukraine. I have several medical qualifications (the Pediatrician, the Doctor of remedial gymnastics, the children's Doctor of therapeutic physical training, the Doctor of functional diagnostics, and the Immunologist). For the years of 2004-2006, I had been working as research associate in the Scientific Research Institute of Medical Radiology. As a seeker for degree of candidate of medical sciences, from February, 2007 I was attached to Kharkiv State Medical University, the Department of Urology and

Andrology. My supervisor was Professor Vladimir Lesovoy, M.D. On May, 24, 2007 I successfully defended a thesis on graduation of the candidate of medical sciences. The theme of my dissertation was the following: "Selectively cultivated hematopoietic stem cells in correction of experimental radiation-induced immunodeficiency". I have developed an original technology of selective culturing of allo- and autologous hematopoietic stem cells of pluripotent kind (biotechnology of sweep-cultivation). I have performed two patent pendings in Ukraine as for nutrient medium and culture technique (Ukrpatent for an invention No81883 and Ukrpatent for a useful model No25184). The technology can used as solution for the problem of immunodeficiency and can be extensively implemented in clinical institutions. Some of my works are published in Ukrainian medical magazines (“The Ukrainian Journal of Radiology”.- 2006 year.- Vol. 1.- P 50-54, International Standard Serial Number 1027-3204; “Experimental and clinical of medicine”.- 2006.- Vol. 3.- P 62-65; “Experimental and clinical of medicine”.- 2006.- Vol. 4.- P 4-11; “The Medicine today and tomorrow”. 2006.- Vol. 3-4.- P 58-65; "Annals of Mechnicov's Institute".- 2007.- Vol. 3.- P. 17-22; "General pathology and physiopathology".- 2008.- Vol. 3, № 2.- P. 27-31).

 Ph.D. thesis

Theme: Selectively cultivated hematopoietic stem cells in correction of experimental radiation-induced immunodeficiency. – A manuscript. Thesis for examination for the scientific degree of the candidate of medical sciences in speciality 14.03.04 – pathological physiology. – Kharkov State Medical University, Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Kharkov, 2007. This thesis describes the correction of experimentally induced immunodeficient conditions in animals (mice’s, rats) using selectively cultured pluripotential stem cells, under both isogenic and xenogenic conditions. The concept outlined is distinguished by being simple and

inexpensive, giving greater numbers of cells compared to standard methods of cultivation, and providing bone marrow cells of homogeneous phenotype. Their physiological activity is demonstrated following intraperitoneal and intravenous introduction to animals during the post-irradiation period, by conferring protection of lethally irradiated animals from immunodeficiency and reducireducing the severity of radiation sickness. Key words: radiation sickness, immunodeficiency, bone marrow, hematopoietic stem cells, selective cultivation, isogenic transplantation, xenogenic transplantation, immune response.

 Scientific testimonies...

...From our point of view, the developed methodology of pluripotent stem cells sweep-cultivation can be reproduced in conditions of medical establishments (patient care institution) with cost decreasing of technological procedures carried out, that undoubtedly opens prospects for wide using of such cells type in clinical practice with avoidance of histocompatibility problems. The new biotechnology has shown efficiency in correction radiation and other kinds of immunodeficiency together with pretty high results being proved in experimental researches and precisely has allowed defining a pathogenetic opportunity for using of such type of stem cells in quality immunocorrecting therapies.... The dissertation of Skolozhabskiy Andriy had been performed at a modern level and is notable for the original solution of tasks delivered. Set of formulated and proved scientific positions and conclusions can be qualified as solution of scientific problem having a great practical importance for public health services...

...The offered biotechnology of a sweep-cultivation simplifies, accelerates and allows receiving of homogeneous cell-rich fluid with common phenotypic characters in large quantities from Mammalia brain tissue in comparison with traditional ways of cultivation; pluripotent stem cells can be used in correction of secondary immunodeficiencies...
